Hello, my name is Dr. Shalini Nair. I was born in Texas and raised in Montgomery, AL. I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.A in Psychology and would later pursue a Master’s in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ- Rutgers. I started thinking about dentistry as a career option because I always wanted to be in healthcare and I love that dentistry seemed to combine the art of healthcare and beauty. I was also inspired by my own family dentist- it was amazing to see a female practice dentistry while being a successful business owner. This really helped me decide with certainty that dentistry was for me. I picked my top choice of UMDNJ-Rutgers to attend dental school and earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine (DMD), graduating with the class of 2004 at UMDNJ-Rutgers.
After graduation, I completed an optional one year hospital based general practice residency at JFK Medical Center in Edison, NJ. This enabled me to harvest additional experience that would prove useful in treating patients of all ages and ailments. I entered private practice shortly after and there has been no turning back since!
I truly believe that that your mouth is the gateway to your body. Years of research shows there is a link with high risk-oral bacteria entering the bloodstream. These bacteria can contribute to cardiovascular disease, dementia, preterm labor, pancreatic cancer, diabetes, and more. Keeping your teeth, gums and jawbone healthy and disease free will help you lead a healthier life and aid in the betterment of your overall health. This is what I strive for my patients. My primary practice philosophy is to treat my patients as I would myself or my family, with no judgement. When patients are in my office, they can expect to be treated like family and friends, and my goal is to give my patients treatment options that they are comfortable with while using the most modern technologies and materials. I tell my patients: “We are on this journey together! Let’s be happier and healthier.”

The most important factor in my life is my support system- my family. My husband and I have been married for over a decade now, and we have two daughters who keeps us on our toes at all times! We love Atlanta and relocated from New Jersey in 2012 to be closer to our family- there’s just nothing like the South!
